Setting Limits Staff

Robert J. MacKenzie, Ed.D. and co-presenter, Lisa MacKenzie have more than fifty years of combined experience as leaders in professional staff development, teacher training and parent education.

Both began their careers as educators and distinguished themselves as program developers. Both have survived the experience of raising a strong-willed child, and both are deeply committed to the principles, practices, and mission of the Setting Limits Program. They lead over 30 workshops and training seminars internationally each year.

Dr. Robert J. MacKenzie, Ed.D. is a Family Therapist, Educational Psychologist, and nationally recognized Parent Educator and Staff Development Trainer with more than 25 years of experience helping parents and teachers solve children's learning and behavior problems.

Dr. MacKenzie has written three highly-rated books.

Dr. MacKenzie received his M.A. in Educational Psychology from the University of California at Davis in 1977 and his Doctorate in Counseling and Educational Psychology from the University of San Francisco in 1990. In addition to providing family counseling and parent/teacher training workshops, Dr. MacKenzie writes for magazines and educational journals and consults privately with schools, hospitals, parent/teacher organizations, colleges, church groups, and wide variety of community service agencies. Dr. MacKenzie is a member of the American Psychological Association.

Lisa MacKenzie
Lisa MacKenzie

Lisa MacKenzie is a credentialed K-12 teacher who holds both multiple subject and Learning Handicapped credentials, as well as the Autism Authorization and a supplementary science credential. Lisa has been teaching for over 20 years at the preschool, elementary, and high school levels. She is a nationally recognized recipient of the Sallie Mae Award for Excellence in Teaching (1994).

Lisa received her M.A. in Special Education from California State University, Sacramento, in 1994. She is a Special Education Teacher for Elk Grove Unified School District and a supervising teacher for student teachers from several local universities. She has been working with Dr. MacKenzie for over 15 years. Together they developed the Setting Limits in the Classroom Program and have co-written the 3rd Edition of the book with the same title. Lisa brings this program to life as she uses it daily with her students.
